Purpose
General is the catch-all category for shop-professional discussion that does not fit into a more specific category.
Most topics should belong in a defined category such as Diagnostics & Repair Intelligence, Common Failures, Extended Warranty & Insurance, Effective Communication, Resources, Book Club, or Site Feedback. General exists to capture what does not fit elsewhere, along with specific redirected topics.
What Belongs Here
- Customer-facing language (phone scripts, email templates, estimate presentation, delivering bad news).
- OEM extended warranties, factory CPO programs, and factory powertrain extensions.
- Auto insurance claim handling (collision, total-loss, R&I billing, comprehensive claims).
- Industry trends, regulatory changes, and legislation affecting shops.
- Hiring practices, retention strategies, and shop culture (process and pattern only).
- Equipment and facility decisions tied to operations (not tool/software reviews).
- Shop management topics such as workflow, structure, and pricing strategy.
- Any other professional topic without a clear category home.

- Confirmed failure patterns with verified cause and fix. Post in Common Failures.
